  Formerly named Ekaterynoslavsky Higher Female Courses Institute the school was established in 1916. In 1920, the institute moved up to State Academy which was later in 1994, it was again recognized by Cabinet Ministers of Ukraine to be known as  Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy .
